I wanted to challenge the traditional "make and take" model of craft classes.  Participants scraffittoed blue on white porcelain bowls but didn't get to keep their own.  Instead they received a bowl made earlier in a different class, and their bowl was fired and given to someone else later.  How much time and effort the participant chose to invest in their bowl was up to them and had no bearing on the quality of the bowl they received.
